My Mother, Alyce, has been my inspiration since I was a young girl. Not only did she raise five children alone, her oldest was born with Down Syndrome. I grew up with my sister Jane, who was the special one in our family. My Mom made it look so easy raising all of us alone. There was never a dull moment at our house. So in her honor, I chose a portrait of the two together for the front of the postcard. During the portrait session tears welled in my eyes watching my Mother and Jane interact with each other. Today, Jane lives with a congenital heart condition and last year she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. So every moment with her is a gift.
I hope you can join me on May 10th to honor these Mothers.
