My clients ask me all the time “Where is your favorite location to photograph?” My response has to be, Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford CT. I’ve been working there so long I can’t remember the year I started! I had my 20th Business Anniversary celebration there in 2002. It was a lovely event, live music, delicious food, beautiful portraits to view. I donated an entrance fee and raffle monies to the Friends of Harkness and raised about $2,000 for their organization. It was a lot of work bringing two vans down with easels and all the portrait art canvases I created in the gardens and on their beach but it was worth it! I’m planning a celebration for my 30th year in business in 2012. I hope you can join me! Details will follow in future blog posts.
The next few portraits were created at my favorite location, HMSP . We started in the area near the driveway. The light was perfect on the backs of these three beautiful children as they interacted with each other. As you can see Alex is quite a ham! Then we moved to the sunken garden so they could sit together for the smiling at the camera pose. Can you guess what baseball team these guys like? Then the roses were so pretty climbing on the stone walls, I had to place them in front for a Monet like background while reading one of their favorite books! Then we usually end up at the little beach for a few more images. I love children holding hands and walking away from the camera, don’t you?
If you or someone you know would like to capture the beauty of their children/family at Harkness Park, please contact me now before the season is over. Enjoy the rest of the summer!
